Ok, ich gebe es zu. Mich hat das Sockenfieber erwischt.
Nachdem ich mein 1. Paar „echte“ Socken gestrickt hatte, wollte ich gleich das nächste Paar stricken. Also ging ich zu unserem lokalem Woll-Geschäft und ließ mich ein wenig beraten. Mit einem Knäuel „Alpaca Soxx“ von Lang Yarns in einem softem Himbeer-Ton und einem Knäuel „About Berlin, Cashmere City“ von Lana Grossa in verschiedenen Blau und Weiß-Tönen verließ ich glücklich das Geschäft.
Zuhause machte ich mich sofort ans Anschlagen.
Ich wusste ganz genau, wie meine neue Socke aussehen sollte. Nachdem die 1. Socke einfarbig (also mit einem Knäuel Wolle) war, sollte mein 2. Paar einen Farb-Akzent im Bündchen, der Ferse und der Spitze bekommen. Und dafür wollte ich das „Alpaca Soxx“ Garn verwenden. Schaft und Fuß wollte ich aus der „About Berlin, Cashmere City“ Wolle stricken.
Gesagt, getan.
Und was soll ich sagen, das Stricken ging wieder super einfach. Ein paar Mal musste ich mir die Videos von Carolines Welt auf YouTube noch einmal ansehen, aber im Großen und Ganzen verlief das Stricken ohne große Probleme.
OK, I admit it. I got sock fever.
After knitting my first pair of „real“ socks, I wanted to knit the next pair right away. So I went to our local wool shop and got some advice. I left the shop happy with a ball of „Alpaca Soxx“ from Lang Yarns in a soft raspberry shade and a ball of „About Berlin, Cashmere City“ from Lana Grossa in different shades of blue and white.
When I got home, I immediately set to work.
I knew exactly what my new sock should look like. After the 1st sock was monochrome (i.e. with a ball of wool), my 2nd pair should have a color accent in the cuff, heel and toe. And for that I wanted to use the „Alpaca Soxx“ yarn. I wanted to knit the shaft and foot out of „About Berlin, Cashmere City“ yarn.
Said and done.
And what can I say, knitting was super easy again. I had to re-watch Caroline’s World videos on YouTube a couple of times, but overall the knitting went without much trouble.

ALPACA SOXX | LANG YARNS
Was für ein himmlisches Wollknäuel! Das ALPACA SOXX 4PLY besteht zu 70% aus superfeinem Alpaka und 30% aus widerstandsfähigem Nylon. Die Wolle ist im speziellen Wollprogramm bis zu 40 Grad maschinenwaschbar.
Das Alpaca Soxx hat eine enzymatische Behandlung der Alpakafasern (Easywash) erhalten, die komplett auf den Einsatz von umweltschädigenden Chemikalien verzichtet. Easywash ist Ökotex, Bluesign und Reach zertifiziert.
Diese Wolle ist also definitv ein wahrer Luxus an den Füßen. Und auch wenn ich als Beginner Alpaca zu verstricken zunächst als schwierig empfunden habe, so hat sich die Mühe definitv gelohnt.

The Alpaca Soxx has received an enzymatic treatment of the alpaca fibers (Easywash), which completely dispenses with the use of environmentally harmful chemicals. Easywash is Ökotex, Bluesign and Reach certified.
So this wool is definitely a real luxury on your feet. And even if, as a beginner, I found knitting alpaca difficult at first, the effort was definitely worth it.
