Kennt ihr den Spruch „Der Hund hat es gefressen.“? Den Spruch, den man immer als lahme Ausrede kennt? Nun, seit Gino bei uns ist, weiß ich, dass dieser Spruch nicht von irgendwo herkommt… Vor einigen Monaten habe ich mir so einen wunderschönen Spitzen-BH genäht. Er war nicht nur schön, sondern er saß auch einfach perfekt. Nun. Ich hätte diesen BH wohl nicht einfach abends auf der Couch liegen lassen sollen. Nicht umsonst sollte man sich auch im Bad umziehen. Langer Rede gar kein Sinn. Gino hat sich meinen BH geschnappt und voller Freude zerfetzt.
Was macht man in so einer Situation? Man näht sich einfach ein neues Set.
You know the saying „The dog ate it“? The saying that you always know as a lame excuse? Well, since Gino has been with us, I know that this saying doesn’t come from anywhere… A few months ago I sewed myself such a beautiful lace bra. Not only was it beautiful, it also fitted perfectly. So. I guess I shouldn’t have just left this bra on the couch at night. It’s not for nothing that you should change your clothes in the bathroom. Long story short, no sense at all. Gino grabbed my bra and happily tore it to shreds.
What do you do in such a situation? You just sew a new set.
Nachdem ich den letzten BH vor gefühlt einer Ewigkeit genäht hatte, wollte ich vorab den Schnitt anpassen. Ich wusste, dass ich noch einige Kleinigkeiten anpassen wollte. Zum einen wollte ich dem BH-Bügel etwas mehr Spiel geben und zum anderen die Form des Cups etwas anpassen. Wenn ihr euch auch für das Unterwäsche-Nähen interessiert, dann kann ich euch nur empfehlen, euch wirklich viel Zeit für die Konstruktion eines Grundschnitts zu nehmen. Wenn ihr einmal den perfekten Schnitt gefunden habt, dann werdet ihr euch wundern, wie einfach das Designen und Nähen von Unterwäsche ist. Je nach Vorstellung kann man so aus einem einfachen Grundschnitte vollkommen unterschiedliche Modelle kreieren.
In der Vergangenheit hatte ich schon einmal versucht, einen BH auf Basis eines Fertigschnitts zu nähen. Das ging leider komplett in die Hose gegangen. Er hatte überhaupt nicht gepasst. Also befasste ich mich mit der Konstruktion eines maßgeschneiderten BHs. Hierfür habe ich mir einige internationale Konstruktions-Bücher gekauft und verschiedene Schnittkonstruktions-Methoden ausprobiert. Am Schluss konstruierte ich meinen BH auf Basis verschiedener Systeme. Den Feinschliff erhielt der Grundschnitt dank einiger genähter BH-Modellen. Ganz einfach. Naja. Nicht wirklich. Aber jetzt ist es dafür einfach.
After I had sewn the last bra what felt like ages ago, I wanted to adjust the pattern in advance. I knew that I still wanted to adjust a few small things. On the one hand I wanted to give the bra wire a little more play and on the other hand I wanted to adjust the shape of the cups a bit. If you are also interested in underwear sewing, then I can only recommend that you really take your time to construct a basic pattern. Once you’ve found the perfect pattern, you’ll be amazed at how easy lingerie designing and sewing is. Depending on your ideas, you can create completely different models from a simple basic cut.
In the past I had tried to sew a bra from a ready-made pattern. Unfortunately, that went completely wrong. It didn’t fit at all. So I looked into constructing a custom made bra. For this I bought some international construction books and tried different pattern construction methods. In the end, I constructed my bra based on various systems. The basic cut received the final touch thanks to some sewn bra models. Very easily. Oh well. Not really. But now it’s easy for that.
Nach langem Hin- und Her habe ich mich für eine Farb- und Spitzen-Kombination in Gelb, Rot, Blau und Schwarz entschieden. Ich liebe vor allem den Kontrast der roten Spitze auf dem gelben Effekt-Lycra und den blauen Ziergummi am Rand. Leider hatte ich keinen gelben, stabilen Stoff für Steg und Rahmen, daher entschied ich mich aus der Not heraus für diesen tollen stabilen Jeans-Stoff in Schwarz-Blau. Das Rückenband habe ich aus meinem Standard Power-Mesh in Schwarz genäht. Es zeigte sich, dass diese Kombination tatsächlich ganz großartig funktioniert. Zukünftig werde ich eine Jeans-Variante für Steg und Rahmen definitiv wieder verwenden.
After much back and forth, I decided on a color and lace combination in yellow, red, blue and black. I especially love the contrast of the red lace on the yellow effect lycra and the blue decorative elastic on the edge. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any yellow, sturdy fabric for the bridge and frame, so out of necessity I decided on this great, sturdy jeans fabric in black and blue. I sewed the back strap out of my standard power mesh in black. It turned out that this combination actually works really well. In the future I will definitely use a denim variant for bridge and frame again.
Der Material-Mix ist vielleicht nicht unbedingt einfach zu nähen, doch die Mühe hat sich gelohnt. Wenn ihr ebenfalls eine Kombination aus Spitze, Lycra und Jeans näht, dann empfehle ich euch definitiv mit provisorischen Nähten zu arbeiten. Zum einen um den Abstand zum Rand perfekt einhalten zu können und zum anderen um saubere Nähte zu bekommen. Ich habe Steg/Rahmen und die Cups am Rand mit 6mm Abstand farblich kontrastiert abgenäht. Das Bügelband habe ich von außen mit Fixiernähten an Steg und Rahmen festgenäht. So konnte ich das Band danach akurat, mit dem richtigen Abstand zueinander, festnähen. Diese kleinen Vorarbeiten haben mir das Leben extrem erleichtert. So klappte das Nähen ohne große Probleme.
The mix of materials may not be easy to sew, but the effort was worth it. If you also sew a combination of lace, lycra and jeans, then I definitely recommend working with temporary seams. On the one hand to be able to keep the distance to the edge perfectly and on the other hand to get clean seams. I sewed the bridge/frame and the cups on the edge with a 6mm distance in a contrasting colour. I sewed the headband to the bridge and frame from the outside with fixation seams. This way I was able to sew the band on accurately with the right distance from each other. These little preliminary works made my life a lot easier. So the sewing worked without any problems.
Damit der BH perfekt sitzt, habe ich an der Seite Plastik-Stäbchen eingearbeitet. Hierfür habe ich etwas Bügelband in die Seitennaht eingenäht. Diese Verarbeitung sieht man im klassischen Einzelhandel kaum noch. Doch ich würde euch empfehlen, diesen Schritt definitiv vorzunehmen. Ich finde, dieses kleine Stäbchen sorgt definitiv für einen besseren Sitz. Und der Mehraufwand ist kaum nennenswert.
Den klassischen Haken- und Ösen-Verschluss habe ich ebenfalls vorab mit einer Fixierungsnaht genäht. Ich finde gerade das Haken-Element lässt sich sonst nicht sauber einnähen. Dank Fixierung konnte ich beide Elemente sauber und akurat einnähen.
So that the bra fits perfectly, I have incorporated plastic boning on the side. For this I sewed some ironing tape into the side seam. You hardly see this processing in classic retail anymore. But I would recommend you to definitely take this step. I think this little chopstick definitely makes for a better fit. And the extra effort is hardly worth mentioning.
I also sewed the classic hook and eye closure with a fixation seam in advance. I find the hook element in particular cannot be sewn in cleanly otherwise. Thanks to fixation, I was able to sew in both elements neatly and accurately.
Sieht der BH nicht toll aus?!? Ich liebe ihn. Und da man für einen neuen BH auch unbedingt ein neues Höschen benötigt, habe ich mir auch gleich diesen aus roter Spitze, gelben Lycra und schwarzem Mesh-Gewebe genäht. Wie ich diesen konstruiert habe und wie das Nähen so geklappt hat, das verrate ich euch gerne in meinem nächsten Post.

Doesn’t that bra look great?!? I love him. And since you definitely need new panties for a new bra, I sewed these right away out of red lace, yellow Lycra and black mesh fabric. How I constructed this and how the sewing went, I’ll be happy to tell you in my next post.
